BHA Wins Leadership Award at National Outdoors Conference

Backcountry Hunters & Anglers’ growing influence is winning recognition from both within the sportsmen’s community and outside it.

On Friday, Oct. 14, BHA was presented with the 2016 Nonprofit Leadership Award at the 2nd annual SHIFT conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The SHIFT Awards recognize individuals, initiatives or organizations that make significant and influential contributions to conservation through human-powered outdoor recreation. Some of the most successful on-the-ground work in the nation was featured at the 2016 conference – work that is meeting outdoor recreation and conservation challenges in communities around America.

Accepting the award on behalf of BHA were BHA Communications Director Katie McKalip and BHA Campus Outreach Coordinator Sawyer Connelly.

SHIFT (short for Shaping How we Invest For Tomorrow) unites natural allies around the common goal of protecting special places. Held each October in Jackson Hole, SHIFT is an annual festival that explores the intersection of conservation, outdoor recreation and cultural relevancy with speakers, workshops, panel discussions, food, film and outdoor adventure.
